Double dose of van Jaarsveld magic at The Boardwalk
Fans of the beloved van Jaarsveld siblings are in for a super treat these holidays. The captivating and uber talented brother and sister are both headed to Port Elizabeth to perform for their fans.
First up is Karlien van Jaarsveld on 26 December 2017. The oldest of three siblings, Karlien started performing with younger brother Bobby in 2005, doing back-up vocals and acoustics for him. She also sang a duet with her famous brother on his first album and in 2006, decided to do her own thing.
Although an absolute rocker at heart, the beautiful, petite Karlien decided to pursue a solo career in 2008 and has since released popular songs such as “Beter as Liefde,” and “Jakkals trou met wolf se vrou,” which reached platinum status in no time. This loved singer also boasts a Huisgenoot Tempo Award and three Ghoema Awards. Besides all her musical accolades Karlien has also tried her hand at acting and dancing and done really well, appearing in the Afrikaans film Platteland and on Strictly Come Dancing which she won.
Brother Bobby takes to the stage on 30 December 2017. His professional career very much mirrors that of his older sister. A familiar face and much loved judge on The Voice SA, millions of South Africans tuned into this singing competition on television last year to watch him encourage and coach the singers of “Team Bobby.” Bobby also starred in the Afrikaans film Liefling – Die Movie which was released by Hartiwood Studios in 2010.
It is, however, Bobby’s voice and self-written lyrics to his catchy songs which make fans melt. Net vir Jou, his album released in 2009, reached platinum status and sales of over 83 000 units. Songs on this album include “Spieëltjie” and “Net vir jou” which fans can look forward to hearing at the Boardwalk when he takes to the Amphitheatre stage on 30 December.
Karlien’s show starts at 19h30 on 26 December and tickets can be bought through Westway Café- 041 365 0217 at R100 per person. Bobby’s show also starts at 19h30 on 30 December and tickets are available from Westway Café 041 365 0217 at R120 per person.
