King Price Race to the Sun

Taking place on the 6 May 2023, entries for the King Price Race to the Sun gravel grinder are now open.

Starting at Hartbeespoort Dam, the epic adventure includes five water points along the route before finishing at South Africa's favourite family destination, Sun City Resort. To ensure an unforgettable experience, the King Price Race to the Sun route will put competitors' technical skills to the test with an elevation of 1 000m as riders as riders traverse farm roads and gravel terrain.

Spanning over 100-miles of challenging terrain, every section of the King Price Race to the Sun route has been carefully chosen to give cyclists an authentic South African experience. With its breathtaking scenery, this gravel race in the North West Province offers five stops along the route giving cyclists the chance to connect with their surroundings while endurance and fitness levels are put to the test.

As far as gravel races go, this one is a treat for fans who want to support friends and family competing in this cycling event.

1. Be part of the start

   See your rider off and then enjoy a day at the dam. After soaking up the Hartbeespoort sun, continue to Rustenburg before turning right onto the R565 where you will meet your King Price Race to the Sun competitor at Sun City.

2. Drop off and go!

   Be there for the start of the race then continue to Sun City for the weekend. As one of the most exciting mountain bike events in the North West, riders and fans can enjoy a multitude of activities at Sun City during (and after) this North West cycle race is finished.

3. Follow the journey

   Cheer for your favourite competitor as they battle for the King Price Race to the Sun finish at Sun City. Follow them along the route and enjoy the myriad activities, food stalls and festive atmosphere along the way.
