All that Jazz at the Travel Sales Awards

Social on Main, a vibrant cocktail bar in Bryanston, was abuzz recently with the tinkling sounds of jazz filtering through the air as more than 100 people arrived for the 2015 Sun International SunSales Awards. These prestigious travel marketing awards celebrate the top Sun International sales and marketing achievers at an annual awards function. This year's travel sales awards soirée was an elegant affair with a jazz flair, and was attended by sales teams from across the country as well as general managers and stakeholders.

As emcee for the travel sales awards, professional speaker and author Alex Granger kept the events of the evening moving along as fluidly as a freeform jazz solo while Cilli and Lime, the renowned Johannesburg-based jazz ensemble, entertained guests with their soothing sounds. The evening did turn to business and Graeme Stephens, Sun International's Chief Executive Officer, and Rob Collins, the Chief Operating Officer, spoke to the guests on new developments within the Sun International group as well as feedback on divisional and sales performance.  

Passion and commitment

Group General Manager: SunSales and Contact Centre at Sun International, Karen Terrell-Kramvis addressed the challenges that the teams represented at the travel marketing awards had to face. She said: "Despite uncertain and trying times, against the backdrop of external factors such as Ebola and slowed economies, our sales teams have gone above and beyond to deliver heartening results for Sun International.

"Sun International's continued growth and sustainability in a highly competitive environment, as well as its reputation as a trusted, quality hospitality group, is testament to the passion and commitment of its people, its ambassadors. We thank our loyal sales and marketing personnel for their hard work and contribution to the Sun International family."

The competition for the travel sales awards was tough, and the judging process thorough. Four criteria were used in evaluating both individuals and teams who had contributed in this area: Ignite, Invent, Involve and Inspire. Those candidates that gave real value to their clients and provided them with the results they needed were considered for the travel marketing awards. Those who were presented with these prestigious awards were identified through not only feedback from managers and clients but also through internal performance criteria.

The top performers in the 2015 travel sales awards include, among others, Prashna Kalian, who took home the award for Principle Manager of the Year, and Sheridan Hughes, who won the award for Principle Key Account Player of the Year.
