Sibaya’s Interns go out with a bang
Fourteen young people successfully completed Sibaya’s 2017 Internship Programme and their time at the resort came to a spectacular crescendo as they put their skills to the test in executing their own “grand finale” Graduation. The interns spent time working in different departments at the casino, gaining invaluable job experience as part of the Work Integrated Learning Programme.
The Programme commonly referred to as in-service training is monitored by relevant institutions and students are assessed on completion. During their time at Sibaya, students enjoyed the mentorship of Sibaya employees and managers while gaining important practical experience. Departments involved in this year’s programme included the Sibaya Lodge and Hotel front office, slots technical, food and beverage, finance and human resources.
On completion of training, students were given the opportunity to organize their “graduation”. Their tasks included organizing catering, décor, entertainment, speeches, speakers, prizes and the dissemination of invites.
“During their time with us, interns were exposed to a dynamic working environment and enjoyed the privilege of mentorship from people who are experts in their chosen fields. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting this year’s interns who put on a remarkable event to conclude their time at Sibaya. We are proud of their journey and growth and wish them success in their careers,” said Ntsoareleng Mnguni , Learning and Development Specialist at Sibaya.
