GrandWest sponsors school uniforms for Gugulethu learners
On Thursday, 28 February 2019, GrandWest sponsored the Now Build Relationships (NBR)’s Dress for Success school campaign at the Siyangisa Primary School in Gugulethu and Woodville Primary Schools in Woodlands and in Mitchells Plain.
This quarterly campaign aims to dress less fortunate school children with good school clothes. The ethos is that there is value in being properly dressed and doing so inspires confidence in learners who have been bullied, victimised and ostracised due to their unfavourable social status.
The school children, selected by the principal, receive a goodie bag containing a full set of school clothes and are encouraged to work hard at school.
Christine Jacobs of the NBR says
"This is our tenth year of dressing school children, but the first year we have a corporate sponsor in GrandWest that has come alongside us to help disadvantaged children. Thanks to them we are able to dress so many more children in 2019."
Melaney Simonhoff, Socio Economic Development (SED) Officer, says,
“GrandWest is very pleased to be involved with this inspiring campaign. We see great value in it, as children feel better when then look better and are able to take on their education with more confidence.”
