Catch Wicus van der Merwe at Golden Valley
Afrikaans music fans can look forward to some authentic, “local is lekker” entertainment at Golden Valley this month. Well known Afrikaans country singer, actor and comedian, Wicus van der Merwe, will do the honours of entertaining guests in the Winners Sport Bar on the 17th. The show start at 21h00 and entrance is free.
Wicus, who hails from Clan William, is the son of the famous Afrikaans entertainer, Tolla van der Merwe. Although he was a keen sportsman, his biggest love has always been the stage. He sang in the choir and stars in numerous theatre productions.
He secured his first record contract in 2002 and since then has released six 6 CDs and two DVDs, four of which reached gold status, two SAMA nominations, as well as a Ghoema and a Tempo award for the best comedy album. He also hosted his own show on Kyknet for two years and co presented Jou Show, also on Kyknet, with Emo Adams.
