Charl Schwartzel

The winner of the 2011 Masters in a career of 15 titles so far returns to Sun City with a strong desire to become the next South African winner of “Africa’s Major”.

Like most of the current generation of South African stars, Schwartzel grew up watching the Nedbank Golf Challenge and recalls standing next to the putting green at the Gary Player Country Club as a young boy watching Ernie Els warming up.

Schwartzel admitted that when Els left he nipped under the ropes and grabbed one of the golf balls his legend was putting with.

He came close to a win in the 2012 Nedbank Golf Challenge when he finished second two strokes behind champion Martin Kaymer.
