Helené Bester pays tribute to this iconic Greek singer in her production - Helené Bester sings Nana Mouskouri. This production was launched during the Oppiwater Arts Festival last year with great applause.
"I've always been hoping to do a Nana show. I love her voice so much and my sister and I grew up with her music, Helené says. "We really thought she was a friend of my mother's. My mom and her look so alike. Still, I think the time is right now for me to do the show. I don't believe I could interpret this music as well 10 years ago. My voice is also older and may sound more mature, which I believe will appeal more to her target audience." I have not "swallowed up" her music videos to watch her move on stage, what she does with her hands and how to engage an audience. You want to make it as credible as possible."
Director Frans Swart agrees: "When Helené approached me about this project, I was immediately excited. Who better than the talented Helené to pay homage to the timeless and elegant Nana Mouskouri."
