After 8 years as the lead singer for the Blarney Bros, Danny Fisher has taken his years of local and international experience in a new direction, teaming up with Danny’s Angels – his two beautiful and talented daughters Joanne & Danielle – to produce a touring show quite unlike any other!

Danny’s Elvis impersonation is known around the world and is sure to stun viewers. Between his impersonations, Danny will keep audiences laughing with his stand-up comedy antics.
Born entertainers, Joanne and Danielle bring their sexy “Rock Chick” attitude to the mix and are sure to get audiences out of their seats and onto the dancefloor. Known as Danny’s Angels, the girls have performed around the country and abroad in Shanghai, China where they entertained the likes of Rodger Federer & Raphael Nadal at the Opening of the Masters Cup Championships in 2005.
This exciting family line up completed a full year on the popular Barnyard Theatre Circuit in 2008 with the production Your Mamma Don’t Dance – The ultimate tribute show and 2009 saw the Danny Fisher Roadshow performing Stars in Your Eyes at Sun City for a successful 7 month sell-out run.
The St Patrick’s Day special show on 17 March will see Danny lead the audience in sing-alongs of classics like “Wild Rover”, “Whiskey in the Jar” and “The Leaving of Liverpool” – plus a whole lot of action songs and drinking games!
The Danny Fisher Roadshow will be performing at The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon on 5, 6, 12, 13 and 17 March 2010. All shows are at 21:00, except for the 17 March show, which kicks off at 19:00. Tickets are available from Computicket and at the venue and are priced at R50.

R J Benjamin
19, 20, 26 & 27 March 2010 |
|
South African R&B star RJ Benjamin brings his unique musical fusion to The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon in March (19th, 20th, 26th & 27th) with a promise to take audiences on the personal musical journey which led to him becoming an award-winning musical sensation.
The show will give audiences the chance to sample RJ’s own hits, including “Shut Up” and “Change The World” while he also pays tribute to his musical influences like Oasis, Michael Jackson and Prince. Benjamin will also showcase some of his collaborations with other top South African artists and will share the stage with special guest performer Pebbles and a cast of super-sexy dancers. The show promises to entertain with amazing dance numbers, memorable hits, amazing medleys and RJ’s own brand of star power.
The party continues after the stage show as RJ is set to rip up the dance floor with his new house album which is sure to keep everyone partying until the early hours.
It’s been 6 years since RJ Benjamin released his ground breaking album, Who I Am. It was an album that defined South African neo soul and took the local R&B sound to the next level. As a writer and a producer RJ Benjamin became the hottest property in the country and developed a cult following among music fans. After the release of his debut album, RJ honed his skills, working with the top artists in the country, whichculminated in the release of his second album, Swimming in the Soul of Music, which won the Metro FM award for Best R&B Album.
RJ wrote his first song at the age of eight, when he was inspired by Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror. By 15 he was playing the piano and by 25 he was fast becoming a prolific artist and songwriter, working with some of SA’s top performing artists.
After studying music, he focused on another passion – teaching music. From 2001 – 2007 he taught as head vocal coach at the Damelin Contemporary Music School in Bramley and ran classes at the National School of the Arts in 2003 & 2004. During that period he was snapped up as the Head Vocal Coach on M-Net’s reality TV show Project Fame. RJ has subsequently built on his teaching reputation, working with artists like Danny K, Vicky Sampson, Pebbles, Pabi Moloi, Tumi, Stefan Ludik & Lee Kasumba.
The massive success of the hit song Change the World has made RJ a household name & has thus far received countless number 1 ratings countrywide, a SAMA nomination & a Channel O nomination in 2009 with many international prospects off the back of its huge Southern African success.
Testament to his talent is the fact that the hip-hop culture has embraced him and he in turn has worked with many of them on their vocal production and mic techniques. RJ Benjamin’s production has a specific sound that is easily recognisable to fans.
RJ Benjamin’s This Is My Journey is on at The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon on 19, 20, 26 and 27 March 2010 from 21:00. Tickets are available at Computicket and at the venue and are priced at R50.

Haas Das has been entertaining children, young and old, since the inception of television in South Africa in 1976. Everyone’s favourite tie-wearing rabbit and his intrepid field reporter Piet Muis have a cult following amongst South Africans who remember the days when the test pattern on TV ran for longer than the shows. A new generation have also discovered the genius of Haas Das – helping the evergreen character build on his ever-loyal fan base.
Haas Das creator Louise Smit is constantly surprised by the enduring relationship people have with the characters. “I still get overwhelmed all the time by people who want to know when Haas Das will return to television again,” she says. Smit’s other hit shows include Mina Moo, Pumpkin Patch, Kideo and Wielie Walie, to name a few. Haas Das’ visit to the Cheyenne Saloon comes in the form of a mystery called Haas Das Hou Konsert: Boeboe en die Warm, Pap Maroela!

Afrikaans Music Festival
2 to 24 April |
|
The Carousel Casino & Entertainment World is set to rock to the freshest Afrikaans beat this April with a top-class Afrikaans Music Festival featuring a host of stars. The Afrikaans Musiekfees will see Jan Blohm (2 April), Bianca Pienaar, Quentin Prinsloo and Caroline Bosch (9 April), Alex Cloete and Priscilla (10 April), Guillaume (16 April), Basjan and Anel (17 April), Albert de Wet (23 April) and MD Greyling (24 April) taking over the Cheyenne Saloon for a series of fantastic musical evenings.
Jan Blohm (2 April) made his mark on the South African music industry with the launch of his debut album Melkstraat Confessions, in 2004. The album stole the spotlight at the 2005 GMT Awards, taking home Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. A Huisgenoot Tempo Award for Best Rock Group followed before the release of his second album, ‘n Stille Runaway in 2006. Since then he has scooped more Tempo and SAMA Awards. Blohm has performed all over the country and was the first South African artist to perform in Beijing, China and starred in kykNET’s drama series Dit Wat Stom Is.
Bianca Pienaar, Quentin Prinsloo and Caroline Bosch (9 April) will each bring a unique dimension to the stage at the Cheyenne Saloon. Singer-songwriter Bianca Pienaar is a new face to the South African music industry, despite having been part of the scenery for 20 years now! Her debut album, Obsessie, features an Afrikaans cover version of Modern Talking’s hit “Tell me tell baby”. Quentin Prinsloo is a multi-talented young artist with the ability to entertain any audience. His attention to detail and professionalism have won him fans far and wide and his debut album Reën Oor My, has won national acclaim. Caroline Bosch is another new face on the Afrikaans music scene, despite having been performing since she was 8 years old! The Top 50 Afrikaans Idols finalist has received airplay for her album Neusie Verby across television and radio, having been featured on DKNT, kykNET, Jukebox, RSG, Pretoria, IFM, Rippel, Laeveld, Kragbron, Overvaal, Oosrand, Rosestad, Oranje, Helderberg, and Bosveld radio stations - and more!
Alex and Priscilla (10 April) are two of the brightest young musical stars working in the industry today. Alex Cloete’s debut CD Cindy was a winner – and his follow-up effort Alex has come up trumps again! His unique sound sets him apart from any other artist on the scene. His ‘suiwer Afrikaans’ lyrics and passionate delivery of songs you just have to hear again and again are hallmarks of an artist who will be around for a long time yet. Priscilla made the music industry sit up and take notice with her debut CD – and she’s holding their attention with her powerful music! Her vocals are pure indulgence and her brilliant cover of Gian Groen’s “Rooiwyn en Candlelight-aande” has attracted high praise from industry insiders.
Namibian-born Guillaume (16 April) has released hit after hit during his career – and his latest album, Nader Aan Jou is no different! Smash hit “Vat My” is set to be one of the hits of 2010 – a moment of musical inspiration. Having won his first recording contract in 1995, Guillaume has subsequently captured the hearts of the South African public with his high-energy performances, picking up a Huisgenoot Tempo Award in the process.
Basjan and Anel take to the stage at the Cheyenne Saloon on 17 April and are guaranteed to get the party going! Basjan’s own brand of ‘Boeredansmusiek’ has shot him to fame and his debut album, Basjan se Weskus-Party, gained such a cult following that it spawned numerous copycats – but none as good as the original! A Geraas Musiektoekenning award winner for “Best Boeremusie Album”, Basjan never disappoints wherever he performs. Anel’s debut album Bietjie Meer As Soen propelled her right into the company of fellow divas Juanita and Nianell. Her powerful voice and obvious musical passion have seen her garner airplay on radio stations nationwide and she has been hailed as the voice of a new generation of Afrikaans stars.
Albert de Wet (23 April) arrived on the SA music scene with a bang in 2007 with his debut CD Dagboek van ‘n Dromer. His incomparable voice is a breath of fresh air and nominations for SAMA, Tempo, Vonk and MK awards within his first three years of performing are an indicator of this young man’s talent. His music inspires as much as it amazes and he is easily one of the most exciting young artists to emerge onto the SA music scene in recent years.
MD Greyling (24 April) announced himself to the South African public when he won the RSGroentjie division of the Geraas Musiektoekennings in 2005. The writing was on the wall even then – this young man had a bright musical future ahead of him! His debut album, Binne My, bore testament to this fresh young talent. His writing skills have not gone unnoticed as Theuns Jordaan, Quinten Prinsloo and Mathys Roets, amongst others, have recorded songs written by MD.
Tickets for the Afrikaans Musiekfees are available from Computicket and at the venue and are priced at R50. The shows kick off at 21:00 – don’t miss out on your chance to see some of Afrikaans music’s brightest young talents at The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon! |

Judith Sephuma
29 May 2010 |
|
South Africa’s very own soulful diva, Judith Sephuma, is set to enchant audiences at the Cheyenne Saloon at The Carousel on Saturday 29 May with a one-night-only performance featuring songs from her new solo album, Change Is Here.
This intimate performance will see Sephuma incorporate songs from her lengthy, award-winning repertoire - which has confirmed her as South Africa’s pre-eminent female vocalist - with tracks from her new album Change Is Here. Nominated for a South African Music Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, Change Is Here is nothing short of a musical tour de force that skillfully combines a graceful sophistication with enough playfulness and whimsy to deliver a thoroughly listenable offering that never strays from Sephuma’s African roots. And like its predecessors, the latest from this multi award-winning artist will find a dominant (and lasting) place in the music collections of fans of quality music throughout the country, and beyond its borders.
“With maturity comes growth and with that the confidence to try out different things with the music,” Sephuma reveals. “We had great fun in the studio, playing around with which direction each song should go and creating something special for each one.”
Easily two of the most beautiful – and simply-rendered songs – Sephuma has yet recorded appear on Change Is Here in the form of “Tshiwana” and “Thapedi”. The former is supported by little more than an acoustic guitar, and allows Sephuma’s voice to stand strong – and the fact that the track is co-written by Albert Frost lends it a bluesy feel that never detracts from the song’s African-ness. It’s the same with the lullaby-esque ‘Thapedi’, which brings award-winning producer Selaelo Selota (who produced Sephuma’s 2003 debut A Cry, A Smile, A Dance) and Sephuma together – as both songwriters and performers - in a way that’s certain to send shivers down the spine of the listener with its tenderness and exquisite beauty.
Sephuma herself says Change Is Here is the most intimate recording she has done – which is sure to translate onto stage at the Cheyenne Saloon as she combines songs from the new album with the hits that made her famous.
The performance is a one-night-only spectacular on Saturday 29 May at 21:00 at The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon. Tickets are available at Computicket and are priced at R100.
