The only ICC in Nelson Mandela Bay is part of The Boardwalk precinct, with its top restaurants and entertainment. At 3 000 m2, the ICC can seat up to 1 700 delegates cinema-style. Built as part of a R1-bn investment in The Boardwalk Casino by empowerment group Emfuleni Resorts, the ICC is the most modern in the Eastern Cape. Port Elizabeth is ideally placed to host national and international events. It is equidistant from Durban, Gauteng and Cape Town – it a strategically natural choice for national and international conventions. Another reason is the wide choice of pre and post-convention activities that can be offered to delegates in order to make the event that much more memorable.
Hotels along the Port Elizabeth golden mile range from budget to the flagship Boardwalk Hotel, where all 140 rooms have a view over the Indian Ocean. The view is shared by the convention centre, which has giant picture windows overlooking manicured gardens and the ocean in the assembly areas and break-away boardrooms.
The Convention Centre has its own dedicated kitchen headed by a professional chef. Working with organisers, the chef carefully crafts menus to suit the theme and budget of the event. Approved suppliers of audio-visual equipment, shelf schemes, décor and entertainment are also on hand to help make the event extra special. Shuttle services to and from the airport, and between the hotels along the strip can be arranged if necessary.
